New Restaurants in Estero, FL (2026): What Just Opened and What Is Coming Next

New Restaurants in Estero — EsteroSWFL.com

Estero’s restaurant scene has had a busy year. Between Coconut Point’s ongoing makeover, new spots along US-41 and a wave of national brands circling the Corkscrew Road corridor, there is more to eat here in 2026 than at any point since the village incorporated. If you live in Estero, you have probably noticed the “coming soon” banners. If you are thinking about moving here, the dining options near a community matter almost as much as the floor plan.

This guide rounds up the restaurants that opened in Estero from late 2025 through fall 2026, the ones announced or under construction, the places that closed, and where the next round of dining is likely to land. For the established favorites, see our full Estero restaurants guide.

Recently Opened in Estero

Piccolo Buco by Cooper’s Hawk

The biggest restaurant opening of the year was Piccolo Buco, a Roman-style pizzeria from the team behind Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants. It opened on July 13, 2026 in the Marketplace at Coconut Point, on Via Villagio Parkway between the mall and the Hertz corporate headquarters. The build-out cost roughly $6 million, and the restaurant seats about 156 inside and 28 on the patio, with a staff of around 95. Pizzas run about $18 to $21. It is only the fifth Piccolo Buco in the country, which says a lot about how national restaurant groups view Estero.

Expect a lively room, a strong wine list and a wait on weekend nights during season. It works well for date night or for showing visiting family that Estero has more than chain restaurants.

Toasted Yolk Cafe

Breakfast is a competitive category in Estero, and Toasted Yolk Cafe jumped into it in December 2025. The Houston-based chain took over the former Zoe’s Kitchen building at 22941 Lyden Drive, across US-41 from Coconut Point, next to Chipotle. It held a soft opening December 13 and 14 and opened to the public December 16, 2025, with an Estero Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting in January. The restaurant seats about 85 inside and 40 outside, serves breakfast, brunch and lunch, and has a full bar for mimosas and bloody marys.

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls

Mason’s opened its third Lee County location in early January 2026 at 8017 Plaza Del Lago Drive inside Coconut Point, next to Stone Cold Creamery. The fast-casual concept serves New England-style lobster rolls, both cold with mayo and warm with butter, plus chowder and crab rolls. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., which makes it an easy lunch while you shop.

Casa Blu, Alba and SB Bar

Three newer spots have filled in the Fashion Drive and Mediterranean Drive side of Coconut Point:

  • Casa Blu is a counter-service restaurant from the Suárez brothers, mixing Bolivian and Mediterranean flavors with wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. It is now listed with regular hours in the Coconut Point directory.
  • Alba Breakfast & Brunch serves European and Mediterranean brunch dishes like lobster Benedict and shakshuka. It opens at 7:30 a.m. and serves breakfast until 3 p.m.
  • SB Bar opened September 1, 2025 in the former Brass Tap space. It serves Josper-grilled steaks, kebabs and Bavarian sausages, with cocktails, live music and karaoke nights.

Wasabi by Suji at Miromar Outlets

Out at Miromar Outlets, Wasabi by Suji Japanese Steakhouse opened in the first half of 2026, bringing hibachi tables to the outlet center. It joins Rush Inn Bar & Grille, which opened at Miromar in March 2025. See our Miromar Outlets guide for the full store and dining lineup.

Smaller Openings Worth Knowing

  • 41 Bagels opened on US-41 in the first half of 2026, a welcome addition for transplants from the Northeast who have been searching for a real bagel.
  • Fresh Monkee brought smoothies and acai bowls to Coconut Point.
  • Alive Coffee celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on October 8, 2026 at The Shoppes at Estero, 21740 S. Tamiami Trail.
  • Starbucks inside Coconut Point reopened in June 2026 after a renovation.
  • Ideal Nutrition held a ribbon cutting May 6, 2026 on Via Villagio near Coconut Point.

Coming Soon to Estero

Whataburger

Texas-based Whataburger is converting the former Pollo Tropical at 22927 Lyden Drive, across from Coconut Point, into its second Southwest Florida restaurant. Its first opened September 10, 2026 in south Fort Myers. Local reporting in August pointed to an Estero opening by the end of October 2026. Expect long drive-thru lines in the first few weeks; that is how Whataburger openings go everywhere in Florida.

Shake Shack

Simon announced in June 2026 that Shake Shack is coming to Coconut Point as part of a group of new tenants that also includes Kendra Scott, Brooks Brothers and LaserAway. The opening is expected in 2027. The exact unit has not been publicly disclosed.

Chick-fil-A at Corkscrew Road and Ben Hill Griffin

Estero’s Planning, Zoning and Design Board supported a Chick-fil-A at the Shoppes at Grande Oak on December 9, 2025. The plan replaces the former Perkins at 20320 Grand Oak Shoppes Boulevard with a roughly 5,700-square-foot restaurant with a dual drive-thru, about 70 indoor seats and 16 outdoor seats, built in a Mediterranean Revival style to match the area. It is expected in 2027. For residents of Grandezza, Wildcat Run, Stoneybrook and the communities east of I-75, this is the closest Chick-fil-A by a wide margin.

Worth the Short Drive

Just south of Coconut Point, at Saltleaf on Estero Bay (5500 Coconut Road, with a Bonita Springs address), Michael Mina’s Acqua Bistecca opened in early 2026. The Italian steakhouse is one of the highest-profile restaurant openings in the region and is about a mile from the mall. It is technically outside the village, but most Estero residents will count it as a local option for special occasions.

Recent Estero Restaurant Closings

Not every opening sticks. A few changes over the past year:

  • Aurelio’s Pizza closed its Estero takeout shop on August 10, 2026, less than a year after opening.
  • Paw-radise closed its pet café in March 2026, though the grooming side of the business stayed open.
  • Pollo Tropical on Lyden Drive closed, and the building is becoming Whataburger.
  • Several larger spaces at Coconut Point, including the former El Nido and South Fork Grille locations, were still vacant as of fall 2026.

Turnover is normal in a market this seasonal. Restaurants that do well here need to survive a slow, hot summer after a packed January through April.

Where the Next Wave of Dining Is Headed

Several projects already in the pipeline will add restaurant space over the next few years:

  • Woodfield Estero, at the northwest corner of US-41 and Coconut Road, plans apartments, about 30,000 square feet of retail in its first phase, offices, restaurants and a hotel. In October 2026 the developer said it had signed a national organic grocer, though the name has not been released.
  • Via Coconut mixed-use, on the west side of Via Coconut Point south of Corkscrew Road, plans 330 apartments and about 29,600 square feet of commercial space.
  • High 5 Entertainment, under construction off Williams Road near the Estero SportsPark, will include a full kitchen and indoor-outdoor bar along with bowling, pickleball and mini-golf. Its grand opening is targeted for early 2027.
  • Verdana Village has dining and service tenants planned around the Publix-anchored Shoppes at Verdana Village on Corkscrew Road.
  • Kingston, the new master-planned community farther east on Corkscrew Road, has about 700,000 square feet of commercial space and a hotel planned over the long term. Read our Kingston overview for more.

Tips for Eating Out in Estero During Season

  1. Book ahead January through April. Popular spots at Coconut Point and on US-41 routinely have hour-plus waits on Friday and Saturday nights in season.
  2. Eat early or late. Many seasonal residents dine between 5 and 7 p.m. A 7:30 or 8 p.m. reservation is often easier.
  3. Use lunch for the hot spots. Lunch is far easier to get into than dinner at most new restaurants.
  4. Watch US-41 traffic. The stretch from Corkscrew Road to Coconut Road is the slowest part of any trip in season. Via Coconut Point and Three Oaks Parkway can be calmer routes.
  5. Enjoy summer. From June through September, waits disappear and many restaurants run specials for locals.

What New Restaurants Mean for Estero Homeowners

Restaurants are a quiet signal about where a market is headed. National brands like Cooper’s Hawk, Shake Shack, Whataburger and Chick-fil-A spend serious money studying traffic counts, household incomes and population growth before they sign a lease. When several of them commit to the same few square miles, it reflects confidence that Estero’s population and spending will keep growing.

For homeowners, that matters in a few ways. Communities within a short drive of Coconut Point, like The Brooks, Pelican Sound, Rookery Pointe and Estero Bay Village, get more convenient every year. Newer communities east of I-75 along Corkscrew Road are seeing services follow the rooftops, with Publix, Aldi, medical offices and now national restaurants filling in. If you are weighing neighborhoods, it is worth driving each one at dinner time to see how long it really takes to get out for a meal.
