Garbage, Recycling and Yard Waste Pickup
The Village of Estero does not run its own trash service. Lee County Solid Waste manages garbage, recycling, yard waste and household hazardous waste for Estero, and the county lists Waste Pro as the hauler for ZIP code 33928. Estero moved to a single collection day each week for trash, recycling and yard waste, so look up your day by address.
- Find My Pickup Day (Lee County lookup) – enter your address to see your collection day
- Lee County Solid Waste – customer service and program information (239-533-8000)
- Garbage company by ZIP code – confirms your hauler; Waste Pro serves 33928
- Waste Pro (hauler for 33928) – call for missed pickups and bulk or appliance pickups (239-337-0800)
- Missed pickups and bulk items – furniture and appliances are picked up as needed when you call your hauler
- Yard waste rules – weekly pickup; containers or bundles 50 lb or less and no longer than 6 feet
- Hurricane debris guidance – don’t bag storm debris; separate piles by type at the curb
Drop-Off Facilities
- Household Chemical Waste and Electronics Recycling Facility – 6441 Topaz Ct, Fort Myers; free for residents; weekdays 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month 8 a.m.–noon
- All Lee County solid waste facilities – including the Resource Recovery Facility on Buckingham Road
Paint, pool chemicals, batteries, electronics and fluorescent bulbs shouldn’t go in your regular trash. Take them to the Topaz Court facility.
Lee County Property Appraiser
The Lee County Property Appraiser (LEEPA) sets assessed values, manages exemptions such as homestead, and mails the TRIM (Truth in Millage) notices each August that show your proposed taxes.
- Lee County Property Appraiser – 2480 Thompson St, Fort Myers (239-533-6100)
- Property search – look up ownership, values, sales history and taxing district for any parcel
- Apply for homestead exemption – file by March 1 for the year you qualify; questions to exemptions@leepa.org
Homestead basics: if you own your home and make it your permanent residence as of January 1, you can apply for an exemption that reduces your taxable value by up to about $50,000. Homestead also brings the Save Our Homes cap, which limits annual increases in your assessed value to 3%. Moving from another Florida home? Ask about portability, which can transfer some of your Save Our Homes savings.
Lee County Tax Collector and Clerk of Court
- Lee County Tax Collector – property tax bills, driver licenses, vehicle titles and tags, business tax receipts (239-533-6000)
- Pay property taxes online – bills are mailed in November; discounts apply for paying early
- Book a driver license or tag appointment – the nearest office is in Bonita Springs at 25987 S Tamiami Trail
- Lee County Clerk of Court – official records, deeds, court records and marriage licenses
- Search official records – look up recorded deeds, mortgages and liens
New residents often file a Declaration of Domicile with the Clerk’s Recording Department as part of establishing Florida residency. See our Moving to Estero FAQ for the full residency checklist.
Village of Estero Government
- Village of Estero – Village Hall, 9401 Corkscrew Palms Circle, Suite 101 (239-221-5035)
- Community Development (building and zoning) – building permits, zoning and planning (239-221-5036)
- Building permit applications – email permitting@estero-fl.gov; inspections line 239-319-2817

- Council meetings – agendas, minutes, video and livestreams
Note: many communities along east Corkscrew Road have Estero mailing addresses but are in unincorporated Lee County, where Lee County handles permits and code enforcement. Check your parcel on the Property Appraiser’s site to confirm.
